16//✨ Mehendi & Haldi

"No way I am applying any mehendi." Shivansh replies while combing his long hair.

"But it's a ritual, beta. You have to follow it." Aaradhya says trying to make her stubborn son understand.

"No means no. Oh come on Maa, I am already doing so many things which I don't like so please at least don't force me to apply mehendi." Shivansh replies tying his hair into a perfect man bun.

"Do one thing then, you don't want to apply mehendi on your whole palms okay fine. But you just let the mehendi artist write Jivika's name in your hands." Aaradhya says while Shivansh looks hesitant if he wants to do it or not.

"Beta, Jivika is following every ritual of the wedding for your well-being. So, can't you do the same for her?" Aaradhya asks attaching the Royal Brooch on Shivansh's sherwani that he is wearing on the occasion of Mehendi Ceremony.

"Shivansh, a girl is always expected to do follow every rituals because it believes that if she doesn't her husband can get in trouble. So, as a man it should be equal from both side to follow the rituals because a wife deserves to be taken care of by her husband." Pratap remarks putting his hand on Shivansh's shoulder who understands what his father is implying to.

"Maa, I will apply mehendi but not on my full hand." Shivansh replies while his parents smile at him feeling proud of their upbringing.

On the other hand, the mehendi artists are already applying mehendi on Jivika's hands who is looking very pretty in her pink lehenga.

This lehenga is designed by Geetanjali Singh Rathore herself who wanted Jivika to look like a beautiful doll. Geetanjali has always wanted a daughter to pampered her like a princess but the sudden demise of her husband has left this dream of her unfulfilled.

She has never expressed her inner grief and loved her niece, nephews like her own kids. However, now that Jivika has started to call her Bua Maa, she feels like her own daughter is getting married and is trying her level best to pamper Jivika the way a mother pamper her daughter before wedding.

"Please write groom's name cleverly so that Shivansh Bhaiya won't be able to find his name in the mehendi." Ritika instructs the mehendi artists while Jivika feels shy.

"Look, Bhaiya is also here." Eklavya says pointing at Shivansh who is walking towards them followed by Aaradhya and Pratap.

"Shivansh, you sit here." Radhika instructs pointing at the couch across from Jivika.

"Miss, you apply mehendi on Shivansh's hands. But only a little, okay?" Aaradhya tells one of the mehendi artists present there.

"As you say ma'am." The artist replies before starting to apply mehendi on Shivansh's palms.

"Don't forget to write my Bhabhi's name." Eklavya comments earning a glare from Shivansh.

"Stop glaring at him. He hasn't said anything wrong." Geetanjali remarks making Shivansh frown.

Soon the mehendi artist is done with applying very little amount of mehendi on Shivansh's palms as per instruction. But she hasn't forgotten to write Jivika's name on his hand.

But when Shivansh looks towards Jivika, her mehendi is still not done as both her hands and feet will be adorned with mehendi. Till now the artists are done with her hands so her feets are still left.

Finally what feel like hours Jivika's mehendi is done but she is feeling like her back is killing her for sitting for so long time. Suddenly, she feels a cool sensation in her back to see that it's Ritika who is holding an ice pack there.

"What is it?" Jivika asks feeling her muscles relaxed.

"It's an ice pack and it helps to sooth pain. I know you must be feeling back pain after sitting for so long hours but don't worry this pack will cure the pain." Ritika replies with a smile.

"Thank you my jinie." Jivika says giving a grateful smile to her bestie.

Jivika is sitting alone as everyone is busy having lunch. Radhika has already fed her before everyone. However, one thing is bothering her and that's a few hair strands which are constantly falling on her forehead. But she isn't able to move them as her hands are full of mehendi and she doesn't want to ruin them.

She gets shocked when someone moves those hair strands so she looks at the hand to see it's none other than Shivansh himself. She suddenly remembers last night's incident and instantly the tip of her ears turn red.

Shivansh takes out a hair clip out of his sherwani's pocket and gathers Jivika's hair together before tieing them properly with the clip. He has noticed it earlier that Jivika is feeling disturbed so he has ordered one of the maids to bring a hairclip to him.

"Did you have lunch?" Shivansh asks sitting beside Jivika.

"Hmm, Chachi fed me. What about you?" Jivika asks back.

"Yes, I have." Shivansh replies looking at the mehendi on Jivika's hands which are looking beautiful.

"I want to ask you something and I want your honest answer." Shivansh says after sometime.

"I will answer truthfully." Jivika replies looking at her fiance.

"Do you want to continue your studies?" Shivansh asks surprising Jivika because she never thought that anyone can ask her this question.

"I can do that?" Jivika asks still processing the thought of getting to study again.

"Of course you can do whatever you want. Now tell me properly what you want to do." Shivansh says.

"Yes, I want to study again." Jivika replies feeling overwhelmed.

"Okay then let's the wedding be done. I will personally see what I can do for your further education." Shivansh says getting up from the couch.

However, he suddenly turns towards Jivika and bends down a little making Jivika a pool of nervousness.

"Ummm, aapko kuch chahiye tha?" Jivika asks biting her lips out of nervousness making Shivansh's eyes snaps towards her lips.

(Ummm, do you need something?)

"Chahiye to, aapke hothoe ka swaad." Shivansh replies leans down to her ears and whispers huskily making her eyes widen comically.

(Yes, the taste of your lips.)

Shivansh smirks enjoying the expression on Jivika's face and take his phone which is on the couch before walking away from there leaving a shocked Jivika there.

👑

Next day everyone is ready to perform the Haldi ritual where everyone in the family will apply haldi paste on both bride and groom. But first the paste will be applied on the groom and afterwards the paste will be applied on the bride.

However, during this ritual bride and groom can't see each other. So, there is a makeshift partition between where the bride and groom will sit for the ritual.

First, Shivansh walks into there wearing an orange colour kurta pajama. It has been decided that the bride and groom will wear orange colour clothes whereas others will wear yellow colour clothes.

After Shivansh sits down on the stool, Geetanjali and Ritika brings Jivika there. She sits on the other side of the partition so that neither her or Shivansh can see eachother. She is also wearing an orange colour lehenga matching with her fiance. But today her hair is braided in the back.

Finally the rituals starts with applying haldi on Shivansh and then on Jivika. Everyone from the family one by one apply haldi paste on the bride and groom.

Suddenly, music starts playing making everyone confused but soon their confused expression change into a happy expression when the source or should I say the person comes into their view.

"Kavyansh Bhaiya!"

Eklavya shouts happily just as a handsome man in his early thirties appears in front of everyone along with some dancers and starts dancing.

Main Daalun Taal Pe Bhangra

Tu Bhi Gidda Paa Le

Chal Aisa Rang Jama De Hum

Ke Bane Sabhi Matwaale

Soon Ritika and Eklavya joins their big brother too and starts dancing beside him along with their other cousins.

Mann Kahe Ki Main Le Aaun

Chand Aur Taare Saare

Inn Hathon Par Main Chand Rakhun

Iss Maang Mein Bhar Doon Taare

Kavyansh then gets Pratik and Abhinav too along with Aaradhya and Radhika to dance. Geetanjali, Adwait and many other relatives also joins the dance.

Hello Hello Tu Floor Pe Kab Hai Aayi

Ye Lo, Ye Lo,Badi Solid Masti Chayi

Hello Hello Too Much Hai Tumne Lagai

Ye Lo, Ye Lo,Control Karo Mere Bhai

Dhak-Dhak Dhak-Dhak Dhadke Ye Dil

Chhan Chhan Bole Amritsari Choodiyan

Raat Badi Hai Mastaani

Toh Dilbar Jaani Kar Le Gallan Goodiyan

Dhak-Dhak Dhak-Dhak Dhadke Ye Dil

Chhan Chhan Bole Amritsari Choodiyan

Raat Badi Hai Mastaani

Toh Dilbar Jaani Kar Le Gallan Goodiyan

Just as the song ends Shivansh runs to hug his big brother who hugs him back tightly. These two brothers share a very deep bond which is beyond descriptive. They're literally glued to each other since childhood and now that they have grown up nothing has changed.

"Finally you're back, Bhai." Shivansh lets out feeling content to have his big brother with him.

"Kaise na aate? Humare chhote bhai ki shaadi jo he." Kavyansh replies pulling away from the hug and looks at his younger brother who is looking like a perfect groom with haldi smeared on his face.

(How can I not? After all it's my little brother's wedding)

"Kavyansh, aap bhi laga dijiye Shivansh aur Jivika ka ko haldi." Aaradhya says making Kavyansh nods his head in response with a bright smile.

(Kavyansh, you also apply haldi on Shivansh and Jivika.)

Kavyansh then takes a good amount of haldi in his both hands and applies them on Shivansh's face while Adwait holds Shivansh in his place knowing he will try to get away. Everyone laugh seeing the scene unfolding in front of them.

"Chaliye, aapko Jivika se milate he." Aaradhya tells Kavyansh and both walks to the other side of the partition.

(Let's go, I will introduce you to Jivika)

"Jivu beta, he is Shivansh's elder brother and your brother-in-law Kavyansh Singh Rathore." Aaradhya introduces making Jivika to bend down to touch Kavyansh's feet. But Kavyansh holds her hands preventing her to do that.

"Sister's don't look good touching their brother's feet so don't do that." Kavyansh remarks gently looking at the timid girl in front of him.

He has already heard a lot about Jivika from his Dadaji but from seeing her in front of him, a sense of protection for her is growing inside him. He then takes a small amount of haldi on his hands and apply very gently on Jivika's face as if trying not to hurt her.
