49//✨His Peace

Jivika stumbles a little seeing her husband in such condition but someone holds her in the arm steadying her. She looks at the person who is none other than her father-in-law who is staring at her with worry clear in his eyes.

"Let's go away from here." Pratap says while Jivika shakes her head in response.

"I want to stay with him, Papa." Jivika replies pointing toward the bed where her husband is lying.

"It will take time for the doctor to treat Shivansh. We shouldn't disturb her while she is doing her work." Pratap says looking at Jivika and then others silently telling them to leave the room as well.

Jivika understands that whatever her father-in-law is saying is correct but still, she doesn't want to leave her Shiv alone. She then looks at the broken things in the room to realize it must have been done by Shivansh in anger. She wipes her tears with her palms before walking out of the room along with others.

"Jivu..." Aaradhya calls out making Jivika to shut her eyes thinking her mother-in-law will scold her for Shivansh's condition.

"Look at me, beta." Aaradhya says while holding Jivika's arms and making her turn around.

"Open your eyes and look at me." Aaradhya softly orders which makes Jivika to open her eyes to see that her her mother-in-law is looking at her with a small yet painful smile on her face.

"Aapko kya laga tha ki hum aapko daatne wale hain?" Aaradhya asks while Jivika nods her head in response.

(What did you think that I would scold you?)

"Jo bhi hua hain ager usme kisiki koi galti nahi hai to woh aap hain. Aapne jaise react kiya, aapki jagah koi aur hota to woh bhi waisa hi karta. Aapne to phir bhi bohut shaanti se kaam liya hain. Warna aise mauko par to log chillate hain, kisi ki bhi baat nahi sunna chahte hain. Par aapne na chillaya aur na hi kisi ki baat sunne se inkar kiya. Aapne sirf thoda waqt maanga tha akele rehne ka jo main sochti hu ki aapka adhikaar hain. Galat aapke saath hua hain, aapse baatein chhupayi gayi hain. To aapne jaise react kiya use kisiko bhi bura maanne ka koi hak nahi hain. Balki main to yeh kahungi ki aapne jaise situation ko handle kiya uski tareef karni chahiye." Aaradhya says holding Jivika's face between her palms.

(If anyone is not at fault in whatever that has happened then it's you. Anyone in your place would have reacted the same. At least you took it took it very calmly. Otherwise on such situation people shout, they don't want to listen to anyone. But you neither shouted nor refused to listen to anyone. You just asked for some alone time which I think is perfect. Wrong has been done to you, things were kept hidden from you. So the way you reacted, no one has the right to feel bad about it. Rather I would say that the way you have handled the situation, you should be praised.)

Jivika throws her arms around her mother-in-law's neck and starts crying like how a little girl cries in her mother's arms. Yes, indeed, girls are always their father's princess but the bond that they share with their mother is something indescribable.

Jivika has never had that privilege since she was born. But now her mother-in-law is giving her the warmth which can only a mother can give. A place where she can complain which hurts her without thinking of getting scolded. A place where she will be listened to without any judgment.

"Maa, main unhe takleef nahi pohuchana chahti thi kabhi bhi. Maine to unse jhagra tak nahi kiya. To unhone khud ko itna dard kyun diya? Unhe kya ekbar bhi meri yaad nahi aayi ki unhe takleef mein dekhkar meri kya halat hogi? Aap sabki kya halat hogi?" Jivika asks while keep crying making everyone's eyes turn teary feeling the painful situation surrounding them.

(Maa, I never intended to hurt him. I never even fought with him. Then why did he give himself so much pain? Did he not remember about me and how I would feel seeing him in pain? What would be the condition of all of you?)

"Betu, first stop crying. Then I will tell you everything. Come on now show me your face." By saying this Aaradhya pulls away from the hug and wipes Jivika's tears with her pallu.

"Now listen to me, okay?" Jivika nods her head in response to her mother-in-law's words.

"Jivu, we have hidden something from you. Something related to Shivansh which we should have told you before but we thought that everything was under control which I don't think is true though. Whatever happened with Shivansh today is not your fault. Everything is because of his immense anger issues which I believe have gone out of control." Aaradhya remarks making Jivika confused as she has never heard about 'anger issues.'

"Anger issues? What is this? I mean I don't know what you are trying to say." Jivika voices out her dilemma.

"Anger issues are resolved around times or situations when a person feels extremely angry over something to which they lose control over it. Like they find it very difficult to control their anger which leads them to harm others or themselves. Shivansh has been suffering from anger issues for years but with the help of therapies, he has been able to keep it under control." Pratap replies while Jivika ponders over the new thing she has learned about her husband.

"Par unhone to kabhi bhi itna gussa nahi dikhaya. Tab bhi nahi jab unhe mere atit ke bare mein pata chala tha." Jivika says feeling somewhat anxious because she is still trying to process everything.

(But he has never shown his anger like this before. Not even when he got to know about my past.)

However before anyone can reply, the doctor along with the nurse walks out of the room making everyone give their full attention to them.

"How is my husband doing, ma'am?" Jivika asks worriedly.

"His wounds are not very deep so we don't have to stitch them. His dressing should be changed every single day and also forbidden from taking a shower till his next check-up because his wounds shouldn't come in contact with water or they can get infected. But he is still unconscious which I think is best for now. He will gain his sense back soon. Here is the prescription, kindly get the medicines soon." The doctor replies while Adwait takes the prescription from her.

"Can I see him? I promise I won't disturb him." Jivika asks the doctor looking hopeful.

"Of course you can, Mrs. Rathore. Actually I think he was murmuring your name even in his unconscious state. So, it will be better if you stay with him." The doctor replies making Jivika to feel bad as she is still blaming herself for whatever happened to her Shiv.

"Go to him, Jivi. He needs you the most." Ritika says putting her hand on Jivika's shoulder before giving it a gentle squeeze.

Jivika looks at her best friend and then at the family members who nod their heads in response. She then walks inside the room with slow steps and soon enough she is standing in front of the bed where Shivansh is lying unconscious. She very cautiously sits beside her husband and with trembling hands holds his right hand in her. She can feel how cold his hand is compared to his warm ones and that's enough for her to know how much he is suffering inside.

"Aap do din ke liye bahar gaye the to maine khudko nuksan pahunchane ki koshish ki kyunki kuch bahar walo ki galat baat sehan nahi kar payi thi. Lekin main to kahi nahi gayi thi na aapko chhodkar. Main to sirf kuch samay ke liye Bua Maa ke kamre chali gayi thi taki khudke dimag ko shaant kar pau aur usi bich aapne khud ko itni chot pohuchali? Kyun kiya aapne aisa, Shiv? Itna gussa kyun? Kis pe? Mujhpar gussa aaya tha to mujhe batate aur agar khudpar gussa aaya tha tab bhi mujhe batate. Jaise aap meri saari baatein chupchap sunte ho, main bhi sun leti. Ekbar to batate aapke andar kya tha. Ekbar to mujhse aapki problem share kar lete. Main sab sunti, sab samajhti kyunki main jaanti hu ki mere Shiv kabhi kuch galat nahi kar sakte." Jivika says looking at their entwined fingers while tears again start pouring out of her eyes.

(When you went out of town for two days I tried to harm myself because of some outside people's bad sayings. But I didn't go anywhere leaving you. I just went to Bua Maa's room so that I could calm myself down and you harmed yourself so badly? Why did you do this, Shiv? Why so much anger? On whom? If you were angry with me then you should have told me or if you were angry with yourself then still you should have told me. The way you listened to me, I would have listened to everything you needed to say. Just for once you should have told what's inside you. You should have shared your problem with me. I would have listened to everything, I would have understood everything because I know that my Shiv can never do anything wrong.)

She then gets up from her place and sits leaning against the headboard. She lifts Shivansh's head from the pillow very carefully and puts it on her lap knowing how much he likes it when she runs her fingers through his hair. So, she starts running her fingers through his black locks and even in his unconscious state Shivansh finally feels at peace.

👑

It's nearly evening when Shivansh gains his consciousness and the first thing he notices is that his head is on Jivika's lap who is sleeping leaning against the headboard. He tries to get up but gets frustrated when his whole body starts paining making him groan. But before he can try to get up again, Jivika's eyes open.

"What are you doing? Keep lying down." Jivika scolds him but it doesn't make him feel angry. Instead, he is delighted to see his Rani Sahiba caring for him.

"Aap humein chhodkar nahi gayi?" Shivansh asks in a hoarse voice.

(You didn't leave me?)

"Hosh aane pe insaan pani maangta hain aur aapko yaha mere aapke saath rehne ki chinta hain? Aur bhala main kyun jaungi aapko chhodkar? Aap gaye the mujhe chhodkar jab aapko sab pata chala tha mere bare mein?" Jivika remarks angrily while Shivansh looks away.

(Everyone asks for water after gaining senses and here you worried about me staying with you? And why would I go leaving you? Did you leave me after you came to know everything about me?)

"Ab dusri taraf mooh kyun kar rahe hain aap? Idhar dekhiye chupchap." Jivika orders while putting her fingers under Shivansh's chin and makes him look at her.

(Now why are you turning your face to the other side? Look here quietly.)

"Neither have you eaten anything since morning nor have I eaten anything which means both of us aare re hungry. So, I will tell someone to bring food and you will have to eat it with me. After that you medicines to take as well." Jivika says pointing her finger at Shivansh who can only nod his head like an obedient child.

Soon a maid arrives in the room with a plate of food and then leaves the couple alone. Jivika helps Shivansh to sit while being careful with his wounds. However, she feels shy when her hands come in contact with Shivansh's bare chest. This is her first time seeing her husband half-naked and unknowingly she bites her lips out of shyness.

Meanwhile, Shivansh is oblivious to the effect he is having on Jivika. He is busy thinking about how he will tell everything to his wife. No matter what he will not make the same mistake he has already made. He will come clean about every single thing to his Rani Sahiba. So, that nothing can separate them anymore. He has already learned his lesson as to what he will become if Jivika gets out of his eyesight. People can call him obsessed but for him, he is simply in love with his wife who has become his peace. The peace that he can only get by staying with her. The peace that he doesn't want to lose because if he does, he will lose himself too.
